The Department of Computer Science and Engineering offers a Bachelor of Science in the following programs - Computer Science (CS), Computer Science with Business Applications (CSBA), and Computer Engineering (CEN), as well as minors in Computer Science. All three majors prepare students for industry and government careers as well as for graduate school.

As a student in the Bourns College of Engineering, you will have the opportunity of studying under and working directly with leaders in your field. In addition to the social resources available to you and access to state-of-the-art labs, you will have exciting opportunities to work on unique and challenging projects.

If you're feeling particularly creative, find a faculty advisor and propose your own project (CS 179). All three majors offer an exciting variety of electives to fit your interests and academic focus.

Research Facilities

The department has recently relocated to a new facility within the Marlan and Rosemary Bourns College of Engineering. Our fiber networked facilities host both teaching and research laboratories supported by the Department’s Systems Operations Group. The Systems Operations Group supports student and faculty research missions with critical knowledge and materials support. The Department maintains Microsoft Windows, Linux, Unix, and virtualized systems and services. Low latency and high bandwidth availability through redundant connections to internet core backbones provide our students and faculty with uninterrupted access to leading technology.

Financial Support

Support is available for graduate students through fellowships, research assistantships, and teaching assistantships. Please refer to the Graduate Division website for yearly admission deadlines.
